Mr.Modi said that Gujarat government desires to have increased participation of women and youths in the economy. And so a special focus has been given in this trade show for encouraging women and young entrepreneurs.
Describing the mega trade fair as ‘Kumbh Mela’ of development, Mr. Modi invited entrepreneurs to take maximum benefit from it. “As the spiritual Kumbh Mela is organized on the banks of Ganga, the Kumbh Mela of development has been organized here in Gandhinagar at the banks of Sabarmati”, he said.
The Chief Minister thanked the national and international companies and the governments of India and abroad for their participation in the fair. The trade show will highlight the newer dimensions of the latest technology, management and human resources, he said.
Speaking on the occasion Mrs.Rita Menon, Chairperson of Indian Trade Organization, congratulated the state government for the organization of the mega trade show. She said that such fairs establish a long term relationship between the buyers and sellers of all parts of the world, and at the same time it shares the new research and technology across various platforms.
“Such fairs are also proving rewarding against the expenses it involve. Even as the entire world is witnessing change due the information technology, the multi brand – multi product exhibitions are becoming increasing successful”, she said. She expressed her commitment to give all possible help and support to such kind of organizations.
In his welcome address, Principal Secretary to Industries department Maheshwar Sahu said the Chief Minister gave suggestions about the three aspects of the global trade show during the first meet pertaining to it, which was held 18 months back. And accordingly, three points have been given importance in this year’s trade show viz. making the trade show profitable for common people, youths and women; increasing possibility of the long term ties between traders and buyers; and sharing of state-of-the-art research and technology.
Mr.Sahu said that Germany was leading in the organizing of such trade shows till now, but from last few years, Asia Pacific region has attracted the world’s attention towards it. Particularly, India and China are leading in Asia Pacific. And in India, Gujarat is playing significant role.
Earlier, the Chief Minister Narendra Modi released the 348-page exhibitors’ directory, containing the list of all the industrial houses, trade organizations and institutions which are taking part in the fair.

Saurabh Patel, Ramanlal Vora, Ganpat Vasava, Chief Secretary A.K.Joti, Industry leaders Parimal Nathwani, Gautam Adani, Prashant Ruia, Sudhir Mehta, Rajiv Mehta, Prakash Bhagwati, representatives of trade unions, government officials and people in large number were present on the occasion
